There is no technical reason for it that I am aware of. The twist in the belts is just so you can see the bale in the baler. We kept the J as a "spare" because we bale a lot of hay and it's value was not very high. We had run a 605J for about 20 years until we bought a 605K a year ago. I was baling with a buddy that runs a K model, i asked about the twist in the belt his answer was it was so you could see the bale? Don't much about the Vermeer but my old JD 535 would walk the dog on his yellow K, in the same corn stalks i could run faster and later as it got tougher. Any other questions fire away and I'll try to answer them. One thing you really want to look at is the constant velocity joint, if there is any play in it you'll need to replace it, and they're around $1000. We ran ours on either a 1086 or 1486, and the 1486 was a lot nicer on it, but then we baled at 6-10 mph. As far as horsepower, the more the better. We supplied power to the monitor strait from the battery, the wiring harness already had a inline fuse in it.

We had to rebuild the pickup a couple times in the 40,000+ bales we put through it. Bearings are all common sizes and usually last along time. As far as sensors there really aren't that many and they usually don't go bad. I've heard the auto tie balers were better (I know the K we traded for was ). The tie arms just weren't strong enough and were constantly bending. We use to have a 605 Super J that was a very good baler until it hit about 50,000+ bales. It's being sold because the owner got out of cattle. I haven't contacted the owner yet, only the brother-in-law who listed the baler online. I will have to travel a couple hundred miles one way to pick this up, so I was hoping to learn what to look for before I go for it. Is there a hydraulic hose located in that area that would cause this? If you look at the photo, you'll notice that there is a blackened area on the bars at the front of the baler. ) ? I don't have any accessory power sources hooked up on my tractors, but it wouldn't be hard to hook up if I know what is needed. What kind of plug from the tractor is needed for the electronics (2-prong, etc. Were there any sensors or rollers, pickup, etc. What kind of hp is needed for these newer balers? I pull the 605C with a 57hp Belarus. Ĭoming from a 1972 605C, I'm not too familiar with fancy electronic balers like this.ĭid all of the newer balers have a half-twist in the belts like this one has? Reasoning for this?
